The Traveling Swiss Says: The Sunstar Hotel Grindelwald is a 4-star hotel conveniently located just across from the Grindelwald First Gondola Station. It's the largest hotel we’ve stayed at in Grindelwald, which means it offers a few extra amenities due to its size. There are two on-site restaurants—our favorite was the Adlerstube, where we enjoyed traditional Swiss cuisine. The hotel also has a spacious lobby bar, perfect for unwinding, and a beautiful spa featuring multiple saunas, a hammam, an outdoor log cabin sauna with stunning views of the Eiger, and a large indoor pool. There’s also a beautiful panoramic terrace featuring unobstructed views of the Alps where you can relax by the fire pit and unwind after a day of hiking. The hotel offers a variety of room types and price points to suit different party sizes and budgets, from standard rooms to more spacious suites with multiple sleeping areas. Since it seems to cater to large groups and tours, it’s something to keep in mind when making your choice.

The Traveling Swiss Says: The Belvedere Hotel Grindelwald is a beautiful 4-star hotel and spa, just a few minutes' walk from the Grindelwald train station. Upon arrival, you're welcomed in their stylish lobby and bar area, which offers stunning views. The rooms are well-designed, featuring spacious bathrooms and a nice balcony. For dining, you can opt to have breakfast brought to your room at no extra charge, allowing for a leisurely start to the day. The on-site restaurant is excellent, but our personal favorite was the fondue gondolas on the terrace. You can reserve one of the gondolas and enjoy a cozy fondue for two in a real gondola. The hotel also boasts a fantastic spa area, complete with multiple saunas, hammams, and an indoor pool that extends into a heated outdoor pool.

If your budget allows, we highly recommend booking a room with an Eiger view to wake up to the breathtaking sunrise over this iconic mountain. For dining, the hotel features several options, including the Apero Bar and the cozy Challistübli, which serves local specialties. The panoramic dining room offers a delicious 5-course rotating tasting menu, crafted by the family’s own chef. Guests can also enjoy the newly renovated on-site spa, complete with saunas, hammams, and a relaxing wellness area, all included in your stay.

No matter how you look at it, this hotel offers an extra touch of luxury at every turn.

This hotel is perfect for those seeking a truly relaxing vacation. We always opt for the half-board option, as the on-site restaurant offers a daily rotating menu, ensuring something new to enjoy each day. A fun fact: the chef, Daniel, is also the owner of the hotel—he’s such a lovely person, and we highly recommend saying hello. The hotel also features a delightful spa with a sauna, relaxation area, and its crown jewel—a large whirlpool tub with stunning views of the Alps. The rooms are thoughtfully designed and spacious, with some offering breathtaking views of the Lauterbrunnen Valley from the balcony.

The Traveling Swiss Says: If you want to stay near Interlaken but crave the atmosphere of an authentic rural chalet, the Salzano Hotel is a perfect choice. Just a few minutes by bus from Interlaken, this hotel feels like a peaceful retreat, far removed from the busier town. The crown jewel of the Salzano is its renowned on-site restaurant, and we recommend visiting even if you aren’t staying here. The restaurant has won multiple gastronomy awards and boasts 15 points on the Gault Millau. You can enjoy beautifully presented, delicious alpine fare from a seasonally inspired rotating menu. The Salzano also features a fantastic on-site spa with a variety of saunas, including a delightful pine sauna infused with the scent of alpine pine, and a stunning outdoor pool, which you can also access as a day guest. While the standard rooms are a bit small, it didn’t affect our overall experience.
